Distinctive Designs is a full service interior design division of A Man’s Room Design, run by its principal, Nesta Johnson. A Man’s Room Design was established to serve the niche market of interior design speclializing in spaces for men. Soon after it was founded, Nesta discovered that her talents were needed in a wide variety of interior design projects. The Disinctive Design division was created to fulfill the needs of a broader spectrum of clientele. Distinctive Designs is a result of the culmination of Nesta’s passion for art and design, customer service, and entrepreneurship. Ever since Nesta was a young girl, growing up in her home town of Revelstoke, BC, she has always been drawn to creative activities. Her childhood interest in art classes, crafts, and writing manifested in her graduation with a Certificate in Interior Design in 2003. Since then, she has worked as an interior designer in Victoria, BC. Nesta’s first employment was in the service industry, working in restaurants, hospitality, and retail. Her passion for working with people continued after her first employment experiences, and she went on to become a hospitality education coordinator and certified instructor, teaching Foodsafe and Serving it Right. Working as an instructor and coordinator whetted Nesta’s appetite for the challenges and rewards of operating her own business. She attended classes at Business Victoria, and in August 2006 launched her own interior design business. Distinctive Designs is a venture that has allowed Nesta to create her ideal career. She is able to combine her passion for art and design with her love for working with people and providing excellent customer service. |
